  • Reporting to the Ancillary Director, the Phlebotomy Manager is responsible for the daily operations of phlebotomy at Granger Medical Clinic. The incumbent will promote a collaborative work environment. Responsible for the implementation of phlebotomy strategic and logistical goals.

Essential Functions and Duties

  • Work with direct reports and team members to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions to address opportunities
  • Ensure adequate patient throughput to meet laboratory productivity goals and offer solutions as necessary
  • Promote and effectively practice Granger Medical Clinic’s mission statement
  • Promote and ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to at all levels of support
  • Responsibility for adequate and appropriate phlebotomy technologies
  • Meet Granger patient satisfaction goals
  • Ensure, along with Laboratory Manager, that phlebotomy operations meet compliance and risk standards as they pertain to cleanliness, hazards, and employee and patient safety
  • Interface and collaborate with other managers and departmental directors, including, but not limited to: marketing, IT, EMR, HR, and other Ancillary Services
  • Manage daily operational phlebotomy functions, including but not limited to: staff, scheduling, supplies, education, communication, personnel development, disciplinary action, compliance, risk, and environmental care as necessary
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to facilitate phlebotomy growth, both in the immediate area and beyond current market, as opportunities are presented
  • Provide basic EMR support and Lab software support for team members,
  • Appropriately handle HR, Risk, and Compliance issues, which may include emergent, clinic-level, handling of the matter at time of incident and will include timely notification and documentation of the incident to the correct Granger Medical Clinic department leadership
  • Engage in, and meet, Granger Medical Clinic patient population health goals and initiatives
  • Interface and collaborate with third-party vendors as necessary for effective operations and resolutions
  • Immediate corrective actions when necessary


Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience, 1 of which must be in a supervisory capacity
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of departmental budgets
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records programs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving healthcare environment
  • High degree of problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Certified phlebotomy license or equivalent experience

  • Required lifting up to 20lbs
  • Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment
