Ben Leishman, OD is originally from Brigham City, UT. He did his undergraduate at BYU, and graduated in 2005 in Biophysics. He then went to Fullerton, CA for optometry school, graduating in 2009. He completed his residency in pediatric vision and binocular vision (eye teaming, tracking, and focusing problems like eye turns and lazy eye) in Chicago, IL and then returned to Utah to practice. He loves all the great hiking, skiing, and outdoor activities Utah offers. He also enjoys ballroom dancing and playing his piano.
Dr. Leishman believes providing the best care for his patients means taking time to fully listen to their concerns, do a thorough exam, and then taking time to fully explain the exam findings, treatment options, and what the findings mean for the future. As part of his commitment to provide the highest quality care guided by the most current vision science, he attends the Academy of Optometry Meeting every year to stay current on new vision research and maintains Board Certification which requires continually evaluating, improving, and demonstrating clinical competency.
He offers: comprehensive eye exams, including diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases such as strabismus (“eye turns”), amblyopia (“lazy eye”), dry eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, red eyes, and foreign bodies. Measuring prescriptions for all types of glasses and contacts.
Outside of his practice, He enjoys hiking, rock climbing, ballroom dancing, piano and volunteer work. Some of his volunteer work has included mission trips to El Salvador, Special Olympics vision screenings, and school vision screenings.
