Urgent Care

Our Clinic

Why use urgent care?

When a routine healthcare issue arises, it is best to visit your primary care physician. However, there are a number of other issues that may arise, unexpectedly, at times when your primary physician is not available. In these situations, it is nice to know there are alternatives to visiting the emergency room. Here at the Granger Medical Clinic urgent care facility, anyone can seek medical attention when the condition is not life threatening or serious and does not require immediate attention. In these situations, urgent care is a great option. If you do not have a primary care doctor, you may also use our Urgent Care Clinic for any care you may require. Urgent care treatment is much more affordable than treatment from an emergency room, and it will provide fast medical care not only during regular business hours, but afterhours as well.

Ailments Our Urgent Care Center Can Treat

There are a number of common reasons that a person may visit an urgent care center including stomach aches, back strains, minor fractures, earaches, cuts, urinary tract infections, colds, migraine headaches and more. For those who have questions regarding whether they should visit an urgent care center, be sure to call the center and ask, remembering that no type of official medical advice will be given over the phone.

Is an appointment necessary?

When visiting the urgent care center, no appointment will be needed. Patients who need this service will simply need to appear during the posted hours and have the following with them:

  • Current photo identification
  • Payment
  • Insurance card

What is the estimated wait time to be seen?

The amount of time that a person will have to wait to be seen in an urgent care facility will vary; however, in most cases, the average time is around 60 minutes. An urgent care patient can be seen on a walk-in basis. If it is busier and there are more patients coming to receive care, then the wait is going to be much longer. Patients are typically seen in the order that they arrive in; however, if a patient appears to have a more serious condition that requires immediate care they may take priority. Some reasons patients may take priority include but are not limited to chest pains, uncontrollable bleeding, and trouble breathing. If the type of treatment that is needed goes beyond what the urgent care facility offers, then the patient may need to be transferred to the emergency room.
Please Note: All our clinics locations are closed on major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Pioneer Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

When to visit the emergency room

There are a number of concerns or issues that may go past the scope of the usual visit to an urgent care center. This can include:

  • Trouble speaking
  • A loss of consciousness
  • Severe cases of asthma
  • Symptoms of a heart attack
  • A severe allergic reaction
  • Weakness or numbness on one side of the body
  • Overdose
  • Poisoning
  • Bleeding that is not able to be controlled
  • Severe injuries
  • Seizures
  • Any problems that require police help or the evaluation or are of psychiatric services
  • Rape
  • Domestic abuse

While there are some obstetric or pregnancy problems that can be taken care of by an urgent care center, patients should call ahead of time to see about availability and hours of the ultrasound department at Granger Medical prior to visiting. Most of the issues around OB problems will require imaging from an ultrasound as a part of the evaluation. If the treatments or the level of care have to expand past these abilities at the clinic, then the issues can be evaluated at the urgent care center and then referred over to the emergency room. Based on the specific situation and patient, some will have to go by ambulance.
