Alison Larsen Oakes, MD

Alison Oakes, MD is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She offers services in upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, general gastroenterology and hepatology. Her specialties include care of inflammatory bowel and irritable bowel disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, functional GI disorders, cirrhosis and chronic liver disease.

Dr. Oakes believes in empowering and educating her patients. While gaining expertise in gastroenterology she learned that health includes not only the body, but also the mind, diet and lifestyle. She works with her patients to learn about their symptoms and make decisions as a team to improve their health. Her goal as a physician is to communicate advice effectively while balancing it with patient concerns.

A native of Salt Lake City, Dr. Oakes is excited to be back in the community and caring for patients. In her free time Dr. Oakes enjoys cooking all types of food, being outside in the mountains, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

She enjoys supporting underserved communities and recently traveled to Eldoret, Kenya where she worked for a month in a teaching hospital training medical students and residents. This was a great opportunity to teach as well as learn from locals about tropical diseases. She looks forward to continuing to help the underserved in our community and abroad.
