Dr. Oelsner is board-certified in Gastroenterology. He completed his training in 1997 and has been providing general gastroenterology care ever since. He moved to Salt Lake City from New Orleans, joining Granger Medical Clinic’s gastroenterology department in 2006. Dr. Oelsner enjoys biking (both mountain and road), hiking, skiing, and the outdoors in general. He recently acquired a travel trailer so he and his family, his wife of 30+ years and 3 sons, can spend even more time enjoying the outdoors. In his free time, Dr. Oelsner also serves on the board at the Jewish Community Center of Salt Lake City.
Gastroenterology is exciting and interesting to him because there are a variety of conditions that he can make a difference in a patient’s life. He likes to give every patient a chance to tell him their story about why they are there to see him. Tests and procedures are necessary to help make a diagnosis and fix the underlying problem, but Dr. Oelsner tries to keep these to a minimum. Medical care is expensive, and he always keeps that in mind when prescribing medications or ordering tests.
