Specialized Care for Immune-Related Conditions

The immune system protects the body from illness and helps regulate its response to allergens and other substances. When that response becomes overactive, abnormal, or difficult to regulate, it may cause persistent inflammation, allergic reactions, chronic hives, breathing concerns, or symptoms affecting several areas of the body.

At Granger Medical Clinic, our immunology specialists evaluate and treat conditions involving the immune system. We take time to understand each patient’s symptoms, health history, and previous testing before developing an individualized care plan.

Comprehensive Immunology Care

Immune-related conditions can be complex and may present differently in children and adults. Our specialists use a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to identify possible causes, clarify diagnoses, and provide ongoing treatment.

Conditions evaluated and treated may include:

  • Chronic hives and swelling
  • Recurrent or unexplained allergic reactions
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Asthma and immune-related breathing concerns
  • Eczema and inflammatory skin conditions
  • Environmental and seasonal allergies
  • Food allergies
  • Medication allergies
  • Complex allergic and immune-mediated conditions

Immunology Evaluation

A comprehensive evaluation begins with a detailed review of your symptoms, medical history, potential triggers, previous reactions, and treatment response. Depending on your needs, your evaluation may include:

  • Review of immune-related symptoms and patterns
  • Assessment of allergic and inflammatory reactions
  • Skin-prick testing
  • Blood testing
  • Environmental allergy testing
  • Food allergy testing
  • Medication allergy evaluation
  • Supervised allergy challenges, when appropriate
  • Coordination with other medical specialists

Test results are interpreted alongside your symptoms and medical history. A positive allergy test alone does not always indicate a clinical allergy, so careful evaluation is important for reaching an accurate diagnosis.

Food Allergy Evaluation

Food allergies involve an immune-system response to a specific food. Symptoms may include hives, swelling, digestive discomfort, breathing problems, dizziness, or anaphylaxis.

Our food allergy services may include:

  • Evaluation of suspected food reactions
  • Evidence-based skin or blood testing
  • Supervised oral food challenges, when appropriate
  • Guidance for avoiding confirmed allergens
  • Emergency action planning
  • Epinephrine education
  • Ongoing monitoring and follow-up care

Our specialists help patients distinguish true food allergies from other food-related concerns, reducing unnecessary dietary restrictions whenever possible.

Personalized Immunology Treatment

Treatment depends on your diagnosis, symptoms, and overall health. Your individualized care plan may include:

  • Identification and management of triggers
  • Prescription or over-the-counter medications
  • Allergy immunotherapy
  • Asthma or eczema management
  • Food allergy education
  • Emergency action planning
  • Epinephrine when medically appropriate
  • Ongoing monitoring and treatment adjustments
  • Coordination with primary care providers and other specialists

When to Seek Emergency Care

Anaphylaxis is a medical emergency. Call 911 immediately if you experience difficulty breathing, throat or tongue swelling, fainting, a significant drop in blood pressure, or a rapidly worsening reaction involving multiple areas of the body. If you have been prescribed epinephrine, use it as directed and seek emergency care.
